AIST Activities at SC22

SC-color-hor.pngThe National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is one of the largest public research organizations in Japan, focused on "bridging" the gap between innovative technological seeds and commercialization. AIST is organized into 7 departments bringing together core technologies that leverage on a strong, multidisciplinary research environment. AIST started operation of AI Bridging Cloud Infrastructure (ABCI), which is a publicly available cloud infrastructure for AI research and development, from August 2018. ABCI 2.0 has been available from May 2021. The peak performance is 226.0 petaflops for single precision and 851.5 petaflops for half precision, which is 1.5 to 3 times that of the existing ABCI system. Further information about ABCI is available from ABCI web site.
